SIFAA is a non-profit organization that works to arrange
and promote concerts and performances in the Triangle and Triad areas of North Carolina,
supplementing those arranged by the Indian Classical Music and Dance Society,
another organization in the area. SIFAA is supported by means of tickets,
donations and underwriting by many enthusiasts of Carnatic music in the area.
SIFAA was started by a group of Carnatic Music
Enthusiasts in the Triangle and Triad areas in 2002 who felt that there was a
critical mass of rasikas in the area who could support more programs. We strive
to bring at least four programs per year, aiming for well-known artists as well
as lesser-known but highly talented artists. So far, we have featured artists
such as Prof. T. N. Krishnan, Chitravina Ravikiran, Sanjay Subrahmanyan, Sowmya,
T. M. Krishna, Bombay Jayashree, Vijay Siva, Ranjani-Gayathri,
Manjunath-Nagaraj and Geetha Bennett. Among the lesser known artists, we have
featured Smt. Ramani (veena), Master Balamuralikrishna, Palghat Ramprasad,
Amrita Murali and Calcultta Shankar.
We also conducted Carantic Music competitions in the
Triangle area in 2004 & 2005 with overwhelming response.
Join us in our endeavor to bring
more fine music to the area.
